[The shift in his tone is quite dramatic; going instantly from playful to flatly matter-of-fact. It certainly hadn't been a part of his before Discedo, but things change.]

Tend to learn a lot of new things here.

Learned a lot of new things back home, too. [ Some of them even overlap with the Discedo lessons... except for one. ] Never had to wake up after being blown to pieces, though. That was new.

Yeah. [He sighs absently as they come up on the school, looking at it with a very controlled expression that may imply he's not actually that keen on going inside.] Not sure I ever really needed to know what holding my guts in was like.

Some people really had no self preservation, did they? Getting crushed or eaten left and right... [ At least they died in combat (sort of) and not by, I don't know. Being eaten by a chocobo. ]

Almost makes a guy nostalgic for the mayhem. [He sighs, almost wistfully.] No wolves, no assholes looking for a fight. Seems like the biggest thing I've got to worry right now about is you.

[He says it lightly - nonchalant, even. Lets it roll off his tongue with a smirk like it's just a joke. But it's not; he's as serious as mako poisoning. It's a reminder, for himself as much as Ocelot. They're not friends, and if there's one thing Reno is certain of at this moment, it's that Ocelot is as much of a threat as he is an asset.]

Isn't that enough? [ He likes straddling that line of threat and asset. It's where he's the most comfortable and even though he never really saw Reno as a threat (he would've respected him more if that were the case) he's very keen on establishing that he absolutely is. ]

Dunno. [He shrugs as he pushes open the door to the building, but a cursory glance up and down the hall is all the caution he exercises this time around.] Think I'm kinda burned out on it by now.

Good thing I don't have a reason to threaten you, then. Yet. [ From the look of things, it'll stay that way for a while. Now, if they'd find someone else or even a way out... that would change matters. ]

Finally, the vacation I deserve.

[No one trying to kill him in the immediate future? A+. He'd doubt it, but he knows he's more useful alive than dead for the time being, and without knowing whether death is permanent or not, he'd hazard he's better as an ally than an enemy.]

[Anyway, they've got stuff to do. Like finding out if there's anything useful in this building. Best places to hit are probably the labs, the old storeroom and the clinic, in his estimation. Reno'd also guess a top-down approach is better than the reverse, so looks like they're starting with the labs.]

[ It's not a bad strategy. Even more so, Ocelot doesn't care too much how they do this as long as it's done efficiently and a top-down approach is about as efficient as you can hope for in this dump.

He wrinkles his nose, entering the labs. ]

Can't believe we used to live in this dump.

[Reno frowns at the room as he moves through it, obviously not believing his own lie.]

[He snorts as he starts looking through containers for anything useful. Good one.]

[ Digging through a cupboard that's more dust than content. He does find a few bottles of acids, or so he thinks. Label faded, half-full at best but it's something and he digs them out with a disgusted wrinkle of his nose. ]

[Couple of beakers, an impressive collection of broken glass. He's gonna make a pile over here of anything that's still mostly useable.]

I don't talk to myself when there are other people around. [God, Ocelot.] I'm not that crazy yet.

Then I'm afraid I have to inform you that your friends are liars. [ A more loaded statement than he intended, meant in good humor but kind of hitting the wrong nail on the head. They were friends, once. It's something he forgot but now remembers and a part of him misses that. ]

[Loaded indeed. It makes Reno stop mid-motion. Briefly, but enough. It's one of Ocelot's skills, poking at a sore spot even without meaning to. He huffs a small laugh, getting back underway with separating the good stuff from anything unusable.]
