more teenage feelings
[He's been sitting on this for a while now, since before they broke for summer actually. But it's suddenly become a lot more real. Between going back to England to meet with a recruiter last month to getting his confirmation pack today, it's... He starts Officer training in September, fuck. It's gone from a passing idea to the reality of his life so fast and Eames hasn't talked to anyone about it except his mother.]
[All day now, Eames has been staring at the letter. Coming back to it after doing whatever else, just trying to get it to sink in. Because they want him to try and do this amazing thing, but he also has to leave to do it. It's over a year of training and he has to go and launch himself into this thing and he has no idea how and he has to tell people and-- fuck. He has to tell people.]
[He has to tell Arthur.]
[It's late when he finally drags himself out of the house and over to Arthur's, thankful Arthur's bedroom light is on and he's not gonna have to try and gear himself up to do this some other time. Shimmies his way up the pipes and the trellis with the expertise of someone who's done it hundreds of times before, and knocks on the window. He's pretty sure Arthur's parents aren't even in, so he could've just knocked on the door, but it's almost routine at this point.]
