[Making room for most of Arthur's stuff is easier than Eames anticipated. He actually has a lot of space in his home that's not being used for much except storing one or two things, and it's easy enough to use the space more economically. He even floats the idea of converting the shed into an office for him, but it's a big undertaking, they can talk about it some other time.]

[By the time evening comes around, he thinks they've pretty much done it. There's probably some rearranging to be done, but it seems like an 'as and when' kind of thing. In the meantime, Eames comes to find Arthur with a bundle of his towels in his hands — obviously distracted on his way to pack them in the bathroom — and smiles tiredly when he sees him.]

[Eames hums softly into the kiss, smiling still as he nudges Arthur toward the couch and regretfully disentangles himself to go get something from the kitchen. It feels like a beer kind of evening, so he'll bring back a pair of those.]

[Arthur collapses onto the couch with a sigh, closing his eyes until Eames gets back with the beer.]

[Now come down here so he can cuddle up.]

[Eames does exactly that, sitting himself down against the arm of the couch so he can jostle Arthur back against his chest.]

[Arthur goes happily, sighing again when he's settled back against Eames' chest.]

I keep thinking I should go home at some point.

[Eames lazily puts an arm around him and noses a little into his hair.]

Well I've got good news for you.

[Arthur hums happily.]

You sure you don't regret this yet?

You haven't even moved in properly yet. [he laughs a little] Give it a couple of days, when you're usually out of my hair.

[Another sigh.]

You just let me know.

[He's genuinely still worried about this even though they've talked it over 800 times.]

[Eames squeezes Arthur a little tighter in response.]

Look, I'm anticipating a few arguments but that's not exactly new for us.

Yeah.

[Arthur still doesn't sound completely convinced.]

It's just been a long time since I lived with anyone.

Me too.

[Eames sighs softly and presses his face a little more into Arthur's hair for a moment.]

Just think about how much time we can spend like this without you having to worry about getting home.

[specifiercity]

Mm.

[That does sound nice. If it's possible Arthur sinks further into Eames' chest and closes his eyes. Something's still telling him not to treat this like a permanent move but he knows that must just be his nerves talking.]

[Eames smiles and puts his beer down so he can wrap both arms around Arthur, holding him a little tight like he feels like he needs and just quietly enjoying having him here. The fights will happen, moments of having to readjust how he operates in his home to accommodate Arthur, but this is worth all of them.]

[Arthur brings his hand up to Eames' forearm and rubs back and forth in wordless thanks. He tilts his head up a little like he'd try and look at Eames if he weren't so pinned down.]

Did you order the food?

Yeah. It'll be about an hour.

[plenty of time for cuddlin]

Okay.

[He lets the silence settle for a moment, still rubbing his hand back and forth on Eames' arm.]

So how long has it been since you lived with someone?

[falsify]

[The question catches him a little off, and Eames laughs.]

God, I don't know. Fifty years?

[specifiercity]

Hm.

[hm indeed.]

That's not as long as I thought it would be.

If it helps, it was less because I wanted to and more because she got evicted.

[kinda hard to say 'no I do not want to live with you' under those circumstances]

Was she a girlfriend?

[It sounds like such a juvenile word but Arthur doesn't know what else to use.]

Mm.

[He sighs.]

It wasn't a great relationship. She's the one who gave me that scar on my thigh.

[Arthur gives him an empathetic hum as he rests his free hand on Eames' knee to comfort him.]

I'll try not to leave any scars.

I appreciate it.

[and he appreciates the lack of questions as to why she stabbed him in the first place]

What about you?

[Arthur sighs as he thinks about it.]

I guess Mal and Dom are really the only people I've lived alone with. Before them it was the army, and before that I was a teenager living with my parents.

[Jesus he's in his 30's and this is the first time he's living with a proper significant other.]

[Eames doesn't think much of it, he just hums and nods in understanding, taking a moment to nose at Arthur's hair again before he speaks.]

What was it like with them?
