Oh man, it's a whole fucking thing.

[It's never even occurred to him until this moment how little he's actually told Maxxie about his life before all this. Probably because he's so eager to forget it entirely.]

Short version is there's lots of people with powers, but not much magic as far as I know.

Well, mutants are all persecuted because... It's a genetic thing? I guess?

[Terry purses his lips in thought and shakes his head.]

I don't really get what the huge deal is if someone's got powers because of a gene or a lab accident or their biological dad's a demon or whatever? Half of us are still getting kicked out of home either way.

[This is too much information for Maxxie to parse at the moment, so he's silent a little while as he keeps petting Terry's hair.]

Okay, but you don't actually have a magic dick, right?

Only as much as any other part of me is magic.

[Still frowning in thought.]

[He frowns a little and shakes his head. Tone just a bit defensive, even if it's a reasonable worry.]

[Maxxie lets out an angry huff at that and raises his free hand to his hair in a hopless attempt to smooth it out. He didn't bother using the flat iron earlier because he thought he'd just be cuddling hand having sex with Terry all day not being called out like this.]

[Terry shakes his head and reaches for the hand Maxxie's using to smooth down his hair.]

I'm just saying it doesn't work like that. It's just what I am.

[He falls silent for a moment; there are too many questions floating around in his head but he doesn't want to pry.]

I've never heard of anything like that where I'm from.

[Terry shifts a little so he can cuddle up comfortably and tuck himself at Maxxie's side.]

I guess it's pretty weird if you're not used to it. I mean, technically I'm a registered superhero. [He snorts.] That's insane.

[Maxxie actually grins at that, nosing at Terry's hair.]

You wouldn't say that if you ever saw me try to fight someone.

Yeah, well. [He shrugs a shoulder.] Didn't have a choice, so.

[He trails off, gesturing vaguely. He's apparently forgotten this isn't just standard knowledge.]

[Maxxie keeps petting Terry's hair, trying to be calm and soothing.]

[He doesn't really want to, but Terry nods and rests a hand on Maxxie's chest.]

None of that really matters anymore anyway.

[He sounds at least 70% happy about it.]

[You hear that undying optimism and good attitude? Aren't you glad you have this back in your life Terry.]

[He's honestly so happy about it that his heart hurts just a little thinking about how great Maxxie is. Terry pats Maxxie's chest and sighs, for once not sounding like he's about to start crying when he speaks. If anything it's almost upbeat.]

[Maybe the appropriate response here would be "I missed you too," but that is not what happens. What happens is Maxxie wrapping his arms around Terry and squeezing him tightly, like he can't help himself, zero regard for the fact that his stomach is still a gross mess.]

[Terry makes a weak noise of fake protest when he feels that gross mess transferring to his stomach too.]

But I already showered today.
