[Having Nancy over isn't as common as it used to be, life is busy and whatnot, but Eames sometimes makes an effort. He's even gone so far as to make something to eat that he knows Nancy loves, and he is well stocked with wine for the two of them.]

[Arthur's off visiting a friend or something, so it's just the two of them for tonight. The two of them and a dog who is always happy for familiar company and spends a good chunk of time sat by Nancy's feet, only slightly hoping maybe she'll share some food even if it's against the rules.]

[He shrugs a shoulder, pausing a moment to take a bite of his food.]

Great sex does wonders for bringing people together, I suppose.

Though, truthfully, she didn’t really. Great sex hadn’t been a leading factor in either of her relationships.]

[He nods and leans an elbow on the table like he fully intends to share details, but then Nancy throws out 'cute' and it completely throws him.]

[He blinks, looking totally baffled.]

[He shakes his head, still a little thrown.]

I'm just surprised "cute" is the word you opted for.

It was the first one that came to mind. You’re cute together, the way you interact.

[She shrugs it off with a sip of wine] would you ever marry him?

[relationships between immortals and mortals were always complicated. But she was curious.]

[What's with these questions? No, "how's your sex life, Eames?" No, it's all "are you happy and fulfilled?" and "do you see your relationship lasting?" Ugh. Eames sighs and gives himself a liberal top up.]

I don't think he's really interested in all that.

[Eames is never going to ask about her sex life. Why should she ask about his?]

[Because her boyfriends are always gross and the last thing he wants to think about is their dicks.]

[Anyway, he shakes his head.]

[Her boyfriends are great and at least one of them never hit her. Just... nearly killed her once on fae blood. No big deal.]

I don’t know. I think he’s got a soft spot like that, like he’ll want to settle down some day, have a kid, white picket fence.

[He can't help it, but the mention of kids makes Eames burst out laughing.]

I can tell you for a fact that children are about the last thing he wants.

[Boxer's a great son, especially because he's a dog, and Nancy is... Well, she's a handful. Several of them. And whilst he adores both of them, it's also far more of a commitment than Eames has ever wanted.]

That's a conversation we've actually had though, so I know neither of us want that.

[She didn’t ask for him. It’s his fault he’s in her mess]

[Nancy looks at him flatly.]

[She crosses her arms and leans back, waiting for him to name some sort of good influence in her life. She didn't think he could.]

There are people you could pay for that sort of thing.

[He pauses thoughtfully, then adds:] You could hire an Au Pair.

[Nancy tries not to laugh. It doesn't work, not after so many glasses of wine.]

Oh, yeah, that'd go over just brilliantly. [She rolls her bright green eyes.] I was hoping I could rely on the kindness of my friends' hearts.

Or maybe Dodger'd do it... [It's not a threat. Is it?]

[If that was a threat, Eames is totally not bothered by it. It's not his kid she's messing up here.]
