[The last few months with Arthur have been... Nice. Really, really, nice. In some ways he's been happy that he convinced Arthur to take that day off, because it's opened them up to spending more time together for reasons other than sex, (though the sex, as always, has been outstanding,) and Eames has enjoyed it. A lot. It's something he hadn't ever thought of as missing in his life, but he could get used to it.]

[That's a problem.]

[He's seen relationships undo enough people in his line of work that that alone makes him hesitant, but with Arthur, well. Sleeping with a cop is fun, and mutually beneficial, but there's no long-term to something like that and Eames can't let himself get attached. He respects Arthur enough too, to at least do him the decency of talking to him and explaining himself instead of just vanishing. Arthur's more than good enough to track him down and shoot him if he did anyway.]

[He's been going over it again and again, and eventually he just decides to let himself in one night, waiting for Arthur to get home in his living room so they can just get this over with.]

[Arthur heaves a heavy sigh and closes his laptop. It's been less than 24 hours since he drunkenly proposed this and now Eames is talking about tying up business. It's a little overwhelming and induces a sort of anxiety he didn't know he could feel.]

[Eames tilts his head to look up at Arthur and puts a hand on his chest.]

You okay?

[specifiercity]

[Arthur puts his hand over Eames' and sighs again.]

Yeah.

[Eames considers that quietly for a moment or two, long enough for him to realise Arthur's never done this before. Moving cities or states is a relatively big deal, but it's nothing compared to packing up and moving your life to a whole other continent.]

I'm not in any rush, okay?

[He lifts his head to look at Arthur and smiles softly.]

If you need some time to think things through properly instead of half-drunk, I can wait.

I have thought about it, for over a week now. I just had no idea you’d show up and things would happen so quickly. It was just a concept until last night.

[Eames nods, electing not to comment on that since it seems like a real good way to get Arthur pissed at him again.]

Well, I've done this a lot so it's easy for me. If I had to, I could be ready to go by this evening.

[Which is to say he's moving fast because this is no big deal for him.]

But we can move slower if you want. Or I can pretend not to notice whenever you seem anxious. Whatever you need.

[He shakes his head.]

I don't want you to pretend. I just need to know that you're all in on this, and you'll probably have to keep reminding me. This isn't exactly the kind of thing that I just... do.

[falsify]

[He nods again and lifts his head to kiss Arthur's cheek.]

Yes, I'm all in. Honestly I'm excited.

[specifiercity]

[Arthur grins and turns his head to look at Eames.]

Good. I am too, when I'm not thinking about everything that could go wrong.

[falsify]

[He laughs and nods, there's quite a few ways it could go pretty bad. Why not joke about them???]

I was going to say we should get a spare room-- I don't know about you, but I haven't lived with somebody else in maybe a decade. [He gestures to the laptop.] But it seems like you're way ahead of me there.

[Arthur laughs softly.]

Yeah, might as well, right? I figured we'd at least want separate office spaces.

[falsify]

You know I find a smart, forward-thinking man very attractive.

[get kissed nerd]

[specifiercity]

[He laughs again, this time it's dry.]

Well then you'll be very turned on by the series of spreadsheets I'm about to make for this move.

Oh god. Are they going to be colour-coded?

[He's trying so hard not to laugh.]

[specifiercity]

They don't have to be.

[They're just more legible if you do why doesn't Eames see that.]

You better watch out, you're getting me extremely hot right now.

[Eames laughs and kisses Arthur's cheek.]

You're gorgeous.

[specifiercity]

[He smiles bashfully down at his lap and then turns to cuddle up, looking for more affection.]

[Eames grins and sits up to pull Arthur closer, giving him a bunch of obnoxious kisses all over his face.]

[He wrinkles his nose and laughs.]

[Eames slips an arm around Arthur and sighs, eventually stopping to just rest his forehead on Arthur's temple.]

This is nice.

[To think 24 hours ago he was wondering if it was too early to start drinking.]

It is.

[He sighs and puts his other arm around Arthur to squeeze him.]

I should go home at some point, but I'd rather stay here.

I'd rather you stay here too.

[He snuggles in.]

I'll probably make a lot more progress once you go but I like having you back here.
