[Sometimes jobs go wrong, that's just a fact of life. No amount of planning can account for random strokes of luck, little things in life that just happen. Eames may not be the most stringent when it comes to these things, but he doubts any amount of forethought could plan for a security guard getting milk in his coffee instead of soy and sticking around an extra fifteen minutes. It's kind of amazing how some random guy being lactose intolerant can undo a week's work.]

[Maybe it's his own fault, maybe he got too cocky, too sure he could handle a job like this on his own. Eames would say he's probably one of the best, but even the best out there has problems when it comes to a guard coming out of the bathroom unexpectedly and alerting every other guard in the building before Eames manages to knock him out.]

[At least he had the foresight to wear a mask.]

[The protocol for this kind of thing is always the same at least. Get out, get gone, make sure you're not being tailed before you go to ground. Eames makes it out through a window and hops the fence, in the back of his mind it reminds him of when he was young, and with the adrenaline rush it's actually a little fun.]

[When he was young he didn't have the money or the experience to be able to dump his car and switch to another once he's confident he's not being followed. Guards like that don't tend to leave the premises, but one can never be too sure. He sits at the wheel for a little bit, ostensibly to get his head together, but he's in a bit of a state. He knows he needs to get somewhere he feels safe enough to regroup, and that's how he ends up letting himself in Arthur's bedroom window and passing out on his bed as soon as the adrenaline wears off. There's a little blood, he probably looks like a mess, but it's all superficial. Mostly he's just exhausted.]

[Arthur hums in response, accommodating Eames as best he can and wrapping his arm around him a little tighter.]

[Eames contemplates asking Arthur to go back to bed so they can lay down properly, but that thought gets a little lost and Eames settles for pressing himself against Arthur as much as he can with another soft sigh.]

[Arthur flattens a palm on Eames' back and holds him close, dismissing any thoughts that come to him about how strange this might be. It's just good to have Eames here.]

[it feels like they're staying here a while, so Eames sighs and gets himself settled to rest his head on Arthur's shoulder.]

[Arthur gets a creeping feeling that he could easily cross a line here - for all the affection he wants to give Eames or the questions he wants to ask, he gets the sense that it all might just make Eames run. He doesn't know why but it gives him pause as he turns his head to nose lightly at Eames' hair.]

[Eames has to fight the urge to bolt upright and move away from Arthur at the question, suddenly painfully aware all over again of what he's doing and where he is. If Arthur's scared he could cross a line, Eames is convinced he already has several times over, and he's quiet a long few moments while he considers his answer.]

Yeah, a little.

[That pause feels like a bad sign, which makes Arthur feel a little trapped. He opts to just close his eyes and relax under Eames' weight.]

[Eames stays quiet, trying to stay relaxed despite how aware he is (again) of how out of character he's acting (again.) He tenses a little, turning his head like he's trying to look up at Arthur's face, but he can't from here and just sighs.]

[It feels like Eames might be a little bit restless, and somewhere deep down Arthur wants to just calm him. He shifts as if the couch isn't optimally comfortably.]

You wanna go back to bed?

[Eames nods first, a little hesitant as if he might embarrass himself more than he already has. He just wants to be on the other side of whatever it is that's gotten into him tonight.]

Yeah. [He sits up and looks toward the bedroom, mostly avoiding making eye contact with Arthur.] Bed sounds good.

[Arthur sits up with him and heads to the bedroom, pulling the sheets back partly to just make sure there's no gross spots there before he takes his shirt off to lay down. It's always better shirtless.]

[Eames follows Arthur to the bedroom, waiting until Arthur takes his shirt off before he gets into bed and waits for him. He doesn't immediately cuddle up once Arthur's laying down like he always does, still so in his head that he's now decided it's too much, instead just waiting patiently for Arthur to get comfortable.]

[specifiercity]

[Congrats Eames, Arthur is emotionally literate enough to know that cuddles are needed right now so he moves right in for that. He's not going to hold him super tightly he's just loosely wrapping an arm around him for now and Eames can adjust however he feels.]

[He certainly is thankful for that, and Eames nuzzles in against Arthur's throat with a soft breath.]

[Arthur's fully just gonna settle in for a nap here. The rest after the sex earlier was okay but knowing he had to be up and about for the pizza meant he couldn't fully relax. This is the real thing here.]

[Eames is trying not to be too needy but he can't help it, he inhales and pulls himself closer, wrapping an arm tight around Arthur.]

[Arthur sighs and adjusts a little to make sure he's comfortable as he settles in.]

[This isn't enough. Eames pulls a face and exhales through his nose, trying to relax and getting nowhere. He's still tense and still overthinking everything Arthur does and can't get comfortable.]

[Arthur doesn't feel like he can do much until the point that Eames actually makes a request or does something to show explicitly what he wants, so he stays put.]

[Eames sighs, trying to still himself, but it doesn't work. After a long moment or two, Eames makes a weak noise of resignation and starts to turn over.]

Do you mind if I just--

[Please spoon him immediately.]

[Arthur makes a sound as if he's too lazy to say "no not at all" as he lifts his arm a little bit to let Eames turn over. Once he's settled he pulls himself closer and presses himself to Eames' back.]

[Ah-- It's almost comical how much that does the trick immediately. He sighs and shuffles back against Arthur and reaches for Arthur's arm to pull it a little tighter around him.]

[Okay. This is weird, but it is comfortable so Arthur snuggles in a little more and sighs happily as he settles in once again to finally commit to this nap.]

[Eames decides not to think about this too much, it feels good. It feels really good. He just... Lets himself drift to sleep.]

[Arthur can probably sleep through the night, comfortable against Eames' back. It's been a while since he got to really enjoy this kind of closeness and he sleeps deeply until morning.]
