There's a brief hesitation on Reno's part - he wouldn't claim to have an in-depth knowledge of Ocelot's relationship with his guns, but he figures it's like his EMR. Something a part of him.

Ultimately though, he appreciates the pragmatism and takes the gun without comment. Checks the weight of it and the sight - he'd like to practice to make sure the sight lines up how he'd guess, but he'll just have to trust that it fires straight.]

Don't worry, I remember. [He checks the barrel and puts the gun away with what could almost be read as a smile.] Revolver rounds are in short supply.

[Reno starts off in the direction of the theatre, seeing as they're agreed on a course of action for the time being.]

Believe me, that thing's coming out as soon as I find out where it is if I have to do it myself.

[As if it hasn't have been on his mind constantly since he arrived. He hated it enough based alone on the loss of his materia, but he knows pretty damn well the effect that thing can have. He's seen two chip malfunctions in his time - seen the way it changes people. Messes with their head and their feelings, removes their control over who they are. No way is he allowing the Scientists or whoever to have that power over him if he can help it.]

[ Lightly, but it is a concern. He may not be relying on any supernatural powers to do the voodoo that he does so well, but that doesn't mean chip malfunctions won't affect him in the most uncomfortable ways. He can't afford not to be at full capacity here.

Even more so... if Reno regains his powers, maybe they'll even have a chance to stay alive. ]

[Nonchalant as he nods in the direction of the theatre and starts to move in that direction. Intellectually he knows it's in Ocelot's best interest not to put a knife in his eye, just like the reverse is true. And it's not that he's trying to make a point of how little he trusts Ocelot, it's just a statement of fact. There's better things to attend to. Like not dying.]

[He sighs, reaching into his inside pocket for a cigarette. He's doing relatively well so far, hasn't had a smoke since he arrived, but this moment of... Somewhat calm, now he's not amped up on adrenaline. He is suddenly incredibly aware of just how much he could do with one right about now.]

Monster attacks, falling satellites. Dead scientists. [Scoff.] Hours of fun.

If that's what you consider fun, we're in more dire straits than I imagined. [ If he had a secure supply of ammo, it wouldn't be so bad. It's something to do, at least. ]

[Are they there? They're probably there. He pauses to try the door, a gentle push to check if it's locked or blocked off or anything. No such problem, but that in itself is a red flag so he takes a step away from the door and double checks the gun. Not that he doesn't think Ocelot takes an obscene amount of care with them, but for his own peace of mind that it won't jam on him if it comes to it.]

[Offhandedly as he he pushes the door open, but with a slight lilt and a smile like it's a joke:] You could buy my loyalty again.

[ There's certainly a raised, somewhat offended brow at the way Reno double-checks the gun — c'mon, like he isn't greasing that chamber up every chance he gets — but at the same time he can't quite keep himself from appreciating the attention to it. John would've done the same, no doubt. ]

Is that what you think I was doing? [ He slides the remaining revolver out of the holster, following close by. If he remembers right, this place is full of hidden nooks and crannies. Not ideal to camp out in without an extremely thorough sweep first. ]

[He moves into the building with purpose, doing a quick sweep of the lobby before checking the corners, the booth, etc. Trusting in Ocelot's experience that he'll have his back and do the same.]

Not exactly. [They weren't exactly friends at that point. Not yet. (And occasionally he does catch himself wondering if they ever were. It's a real mess, trying to separate what was real from the way it was all tainted when Ocelot came back and he didn't remember. When he was himself, but not in Reno's corner.)] Find it hard to believe you weren't banking on some uncharacteristic friendliness to help secure an ally though.

[ Thinking back, they were friends. Sure, it stemmed out of some calculated plan to gain allies and contacts and god knows what else he was fishing for back in the day when it was just him and John (that he barely saw and then he was gone) but that wasn't all there was to it. Reno wasn't the only one he was throwing out nets for. No one else got to see him in such private moments, though. ]

Not like you didn't benefit, anyway.

[God knows Ocelot was responsible for making sure he didn't lose his goddman mind on more than one occasion, and Reno still appreciates that. Not to mention the cigarettes were pretty good too.]

[For a second, there's an actual smile tugging on his lips - for a brief, sliver of a moment it almost feels like how it used to be. But it's soured quickly by a sharp reminder that it's never going to be how it used to be, and he can't let himself get suckered in by that again. It's frustrating to imagine how often he's going to have to remind himself of that.]

[ This is nice. Dangerously so and maybe that was what landed him in that position with Reno in the first place. Caring a little more than he should, lost and alone, cut off from the mission without anything other than sheer survival to replace it. ]
