[Sometimes jobs go wrong, that's just a fact of life. No amount of planning can account for random strokes of luck, little things in life that just happen. Eames may not be the most stringent when it comes to these things, but he doubts any amount of forethought could plan for a security guard getting milk in his coffee instead of soy and sticking around an extra fifteen minutes. It's kind of amazing how some random guy being lactose intolerant can undo a week's work.]
[Maybe it's his own fault, maybe he got too cocky, too sure he could handle a job like this on his own. Eames would say he's probably one of the best, but even the best out there has problems when it comes to a guard coming out of the bathroom unexpectedly and alerting every other guard in the building before Eames manages to knock him out.]
[At least he had the foresight to wear a mask.]
[The protocol for this kind of thing is always the same at least. Get out, get gone, make sure you're not being tailed before you go to ground. Eames makes it out through a window and hops the fence, in the back of his mind it reminds him of when he was young, and with the adrenaline rush it's actually a little fun.]
[When he was young he didn't have the money or the experience to be able to dump his car and switch to another once he's confident he's not being followed. Guards like that don't tend to leave the premises, but one can never be too sure. He sits at the wheel for a little bit, ostensibly to get his head together, but he's in a bit of a state. He knows he needs to get somewhere he feels safe enough to regroup, and that's how he ends up letting himself in Arthur's bedroom window and passing out on his bed as soon as the adrenaline wears off. There's a little blood, he probably looks like a mess, but it's all superficial. Mostly he's just exhausted.]
[Arthur tilts his head at him, scanning Eames' face trying to determine whether another try is worth it or if Eames is set on leaving. He decides for his own sake it is, at least.]
[Arthur stands up from the table and goes to Eames, taking his hand gently and nosing in at his face. He's so uncharacteristically bashful and Arthur wants very much to just be close to him right now. Ideally in bed.]
[Eames lets out another weak sigh and lifts a hand to cup Arthur's cheek, turning his head to seek out Arthur's lips for a kiss. They can go to bed in a minute, he just needs this first.]
[Arthur obliges him with a kiss that’s nice and slow but firm, trying to be solid and steady because that’s what it seems like Eames needs right now. He lingers for a long moment before he pulls away, leaning in the direction of the bedroom.]
[Eames goes easily, following Arthur to the bedroom and crawls onto the bed with a soft grunt when his shoulder protests. He'll probably be back to himself after some sleep, he just needs to clear his head a bit. Maybe.]
[Arthur gets into bed and just cuddles up to Eames, ready to take a nice nap and just be there for whatever Eames needs. For some reason that feels really important right now.]
[Eames turns on his side and cuddles right up too, tucking his head against Arthur's neck and wrapping his arms tightly around Arthur. He sucks in a deep breath and closes his eyes, trying to will himself to sleep.]
[He grips Eames a little harder at that, feeling like maybe that's what's needed right now. He's not very tired but he'll probably drift off laying here with Eames - his presence in his bed is a comfort in a lot of ways - though not until he hears Eames' breath even out.]
[Eames mumbles a quiet thanks as he settles, calmed by Arthur's tighter hold on him. He just feels so uncertain, the job going south is whatever, but it's the fact that he came to Arthur instead of going home that has him freaked out. Almost ironic in how desperately he feels like he needs Arthur to make him feel like that's okay.]
[This is good enough, more than that even. It doesn't take long at all for him to fall asleep, it never really does with Arthur, considerably more peaceful once he drifts off.]
[He usually goes to bed much later than this, so Arthur barely manages two hours of sleep before he wakes up again, but Eames's weight is so comfortable on him that he doesn't feel the need to move just yet. He just sleepily kisses his hair with a soft hum and rubs his back, kind of trying trying to see just how out cold Eames is right now.]
[The feedback encourages him to keep it up, humming as he noses at Eames' hair. he rubs Eames' back a little firmer. Maybe if he can coax him into waking up they can eat something or make out or something.]
[Eames starts to rouse after a little of that, taking a deep breath where his face is against Arthur's neck and then tilting his head to kiss the skin there lightly.]
[Eames lazily slips his hand into Arthur's pants to get a hand on him and goes back to kissing his neck with a soft hum. He's still feeling a lot but this seems like a good way to ignore it, plus everyone will enjoy it. Good all around.]

So, what's a couple more hours?

[He pulls a bit of a face, looking down at the table instead of at Arthur.]

[Eames lets out a shaky breath and shakes his head.]
I don't know what I'm doing, Arthur. I don't know why I came here..

Probably has something to do with this.

Hey.

You want to stay in bed, or grab something to eat?

[He trails his fingers down to Arthur's waistband, just to be extra clear what he's talking about.]
